Before And After Science (1977)
★★★★ Jun 28, 2026
What I like here is the balance between structure and drift. The first side still feels like songs in a more familiar sense, but the second half starts opening into something calmer and more suspended, almost like Eno was already walking toward ambient music while still keeping one foot in art rock. That shift gives the album a special shape. It begins with bright surfaces and ends in something much quieter and more reflective. Not every track hits me equally, but the whole record feels thoughtful and very beautifully arranged.
Another Green World (1975)

This album really does feel like falling in and out of sleep in a beautiful way. The balance between vocal songs and instrumentals is so unusual, but that is exactly what makes it work because it never settles into one mode for too long. You can hear the experimental side, but it does not feel academic at all. It feels intimate and slightly drifting. On this UK Island pressing the tiny details matter more, which is good because this music lives in texture and spacing as much as melody. I always come away from it feeling like I visited a place instead of just heard a record.
